Our family is switching gears now as we head into fall... changing seasons and routines can be exciting and tricky all at the same time.
Last month we had an amazing opportunity to take a traditional seaweed rattle making workshop with Chumash elder Alan Salazar!
I knew that Alan was a well loved tribal storyteller, but didn't know that he also writes children's books. They're really wonderful and if you have a chance to check them out we highly recommend them!
His wife, Mona Lewis, is an incredible artist and does all of the illustrations in the books using earth pigments. She taught us how to make some to decorate the seaweed rattles.
Mona includes different natural pigment lessons in the back of each book - you can find them here at their independent book shop online, Sunsprite Handwork
The workshop was inspiring and paired perfectly with our Seaweed and Sea Life boxes that shipped out last week for the first time! They're now available in the shop under single boxes, and part of the Biomes Bundle.
As always, thank you for your support of our very small business! Each aromatic activity box is created with love and purpose.
